Lake Tutira – 14th April 2019
In partnership with the HB Regional Council & Maungaharuru-Tangitū Trust
Start Location.
The start is at the Eastern side of the lake down the shingle driveway access off SH2, the Napier to Wairoa Road. This is approximately a 40min drive from central Napier.
Drive in until you see the event HQ. Parking is on the main paddock by the HQ. We have some overflow parking in the camp ground area especially if its wet. It’s on the left as you drive in. Please follow the direction of the parking Marshall. Park sensibly, being mindful of others.
As always parking loads of cars in winter is a little tricky so we really appreciate it if you could carpool where possible.
Registration will be open from 7:30 am. Collect your timing number from the registration area as indicated.
Please Note!!
The area is managed by the HB Regional Council and the Maungaharuru-Tangitū Trust and we have to abide by their rules of use. There is strictly NO DOGS ALLOWED! This means no dogs even if you intend to leave them in the car.

Course Information
All distances are approximate and within +/- 5% of the stated figure, give or take a bit. These are trail runs and the wrong place to look for precision. The courses are exacting, but not exact.
This is a working farm. Some gates will be closed. Please go through the gates rather than over them. Leave them as you find them. That means, if you open it, you close it. If you do decide to climb over a gate, make sure you climb over at the hinge end.
Half Marathon ~ 21.2km (this is a bit of challenge for the first run)
We know you will enjoy this course, we have enjoyed setting it. We have two possible finish trails for this run depending on weather, we will let you know closer to the event how we get on.
“Warning” you may see people running the opposite way to you on this course!! It loops back on itself so don’t just follow them, they may be a long way in front of you, you will get back to where you saw them… eventually.
We will start with a loop of the carpark before you head out on the Eastern side of the lake and follow the Table Mountain Track for most of this run. This trail is very well marked with nice big wooden posts that are painted bright Orange and we will be following these for most of the run so it does make the trail very easy to follow. This trail is clearly defined.
You will also do a loop off the Table Mountain Track through a private forestry block which has very good trails on it, albeit a little steep in places….
The last 800m of this run is on the shingle access road back to the HQ car park so please be aware of vehicles heading back towards you on the road section. Keep to the right hand side of the road until you get back to the HQ and cross over at the gate on to the marked trail to the finish.
The half marathon course will have a cut off time at the Medium/Long course split point at the top of the last hill. If you are unable to make this point by 12:00pm you will be turned onto the medium course to head back to the finish area. If you can’t make this point in 2 1/2 hours you won’t be able to make the finish by cut off at 1:30pm.
Medium Course ~ 13km

Short Course ~ 5.5km
This is a nice easy course with not so much climbing in it so will be great for the beginner.
We will start you off on the shingle road towards the cattle yards where you will complete a loop of the paddock before heading of around the Eastern side of the lake.
From there you travel approx. 2km before a course split sends you up a little hill to the right, away from the Medium and Long courses.
This is followed by a nice little up and over track through some lovely native forest then back out to the start finish area.
